The former Commercial Hotel (and former Mermaid Inn!) in Ramsey is now a Bushy's pub! The premises were renamed the 'Ellan Vannin' - in homage to the Steam Packet ship that was lost in the Mersey in 1909. The ship sailed from the quayside opposite the pub on December 3rd. There is a small plaque at the waterside, erected in memory of those lost. (It must be added that "Ellan Vanin" is Manx Gaelic for Isle of Man)
